Back in March 2018, the team at ACCT Philadelphia received a distressing call: a stray dog was found in critical condition and needed immediate help.
She had been discovered near a known drug house, and according to reports from local authorities, a group of kids had allegedly injected her with illicit substances. Tests later confirmed the presence of cocaine and THC in her system. The situation was dire.
Rescuers transported her to Faithful Friends Animal Society, a no-kill shelter located in Delaware. When she arrived, she was nearly unresponsive—her body limp from the drugs coursing through her system. She suffered from tremors and appeared barely conscious. Her new caregivers knew they had no time to waste.
They gave her a name—Peanut—and immediately began lifesaving treatments. She received intravenous fluids, had extensive blood work done, and underwent emergency care around the clock. Her chances were slim, but she wasn’t giving up.

Though her tremors persisted, she could now stand, walk, eat, and drink—milestones that seemed almost impossible just hours before.
